Finding Ownership records

Hi all

can anyone suggest any sites or official channels I can go through to ascertain ownership of an apartment in Los Gigantes.

It's a shared ownership where each owner has certain periods which they use each year.

Following the death of an elderly relative, we need to determine which member of our family is the registered owner so we can commence selling or transfer of ownership of our holiday period.

It depends on whether you mean "timeshare" in the proper sense, or a specific legal agreement between various genuine owners. If the latter, then there was presumably an occasion when these people signed for their share of the apartment at notary, or a less formal legal agreement drawn up by a lawyer. Either way, there should be a legal record in the escritutra, or in a contract of some sort. The best place to start is with one of the other owners, or if you don't have their details, then the administrator (or management office if timeshare) of the complex.

Start by telling me which complex.

Tks for quick reply janet. Not a timeshare as such... It would be a specific legal agreement between owners. property is in Delfin apartments in Los Gigantes. The original purchase would have been in the 1960's I would think.

in this case it should be registered in the registro de propriedad, which i assume is in santiago del teide, but i guess janet knows more. you have to ask for a nota simple which takes about 3 days and costs no more than around 3 euros.

To make a start, though, Tia do you know (any of) the other owners. Each should be named in the escritura (title deeds) and someone will have a copy, or know where a copy is.
