well, it depends on the schools really...usually primary public schools start around 9 till 1 or 2, higher classes start at 8...some schools do 8-1 and 3 till 5 again, which are mostly private schools.....mine just started secondary, grade 6, and starts at 8 and finishes at 2....

Hi again, our kids go to spanish school in Los Cristianos. They start at 8.30 and finish at 1.30. There is a lunch time arrangement which is subject to numbers and you have to pay for which I think goes on till around 3-3.30 The private english schools tend to finish around 3.30-4 or even later.

ok, nurseries are a different thing all together...you have spanish and also british ones here, i never hesitated to put mine into a spanish one from the scratch, cos kids pick languages up so easily. i was quite lucky cos the one she went to opened at 7 in the morning and she could stay all day till 6pm. at the age of 3 kids start preschool as well and the nursery did provide a transport for the ones which were in preschool, driving them down and picking them up. once back in the nursery they were provided with a meal there. i don't know about other nurseries with that service, but i would recommend mine in a flash...

At Aldea Blanca CIEP it's 9 until 2, (1pm June and September), and the same for pre-school children, age 3+ They don't have lunch there and IMHO it's a really great school if you're lucky enough to get your children in there. No more than 16-18 to a class and Spanish speaking only. Our 5 year old really loves it there.

Are you thinking of moving here or are you just curious? If its the former, look at www.wingateschool.com for info regarding the English option. Their nursery dept runs from 9am to 3.15 and is very good. My son is now in year 3 and I can vouch for this school 100%.

Our daughter goes to Las Americas School. She starts at 9 and finishes at 2 although in the hot summer months they finish an hour early at 1.
