Question Are the Mount Teide tours still running in the winter?

hi-new to the site and just had a question about going up mount teide.
i worked in las americas for the last 2 summers but never really ventured too far! anyway im coming over for my 21st to see all my mates for a week.just wondering do the tours still go up in the winter? are the roads safe for coaches to go up with snow etc? id love to check it out this time and come home with pics on the beach and in snow!

any help appreciated!

I dont know the answser to that question actually but at a guess I would say yes the tours still go on throughout the winter provided the roads have been cleared because when there is snow on Teide, the school kids all go on school trips, on coaches, to see the snow - it's the only way some Canarian kids ever get to see snow!!! They all have a great time sliding about in it, building snowmen and having snowball fights. Hire a car and drive up there yourself as many people do - and come down with a bucket of snow to play with and a snowman on your car boot!!!

There was a splash of snow the other weekend but nothing to write home about.....

It normally smows up there in late dec or early jan......a couple of days of good snow then it just sits around waiting for the heat to melt it lol...

At the moment it is rather chilly up there...according to the readings from the observatory the temps went down to about 8 degs over night and they are average at the moment in day at about 11degs.....

The tours work all year round....but you may do better to hire a car for the day and do your own thing..

Try walking up to the refuge. Stay there the night and then walk to the sumit at sunrise. You need a special pass but the experience is mind blowing. You'll need ski clothes in November though. I did this 4 years ago and it still fills me with emotion thinking about those views. Nothing can compare. Great way to spend your 21st!

I went up by bike when I was out at tenerife last month.

No sign of snow then but was pretty chilly near the summit in just shorts.
