Picnic Places Please.

Hi folks,

We are wanting to go on a picnic and wondered if anyone knew of anywhere really nice to go. We dont want to go too far up the mountains where it is really cold and would prefer to stick to the South of the Island.

The only place we have come up with at the minute is the picnic site in Santiago Del Teide, so if all else fails we will go there.

Gracias.

is this for like the next few weeks.???????? as if so then it will not be cold up mountain....lol

We normally go up the mountain for BBQ's and stuff likre that....it is really nice. Failing that we always take our cool box everywhere we go and just have picnics where it looks nice.

There's one above San Miguel Village called Monte Cho Paucho or something like that... if you drive through san Miguel village, take the left turn signposted to Vilaflor & Teide and it's about 10-15 mins up on the left.

The picnic/bbq area just above Vilaflor is nice. I seem to remember that ir's called Las Lacas - or something ... anyway, you go through Vilaflor and it's about 5km further on and on the left.

Also, another good idea is to get a good map and go exploring - you will be amazed at the places you will find.

If you get the time, explore the Mercedes mountains and then head down to Punta del Higado un the north-east corner of the island. Well worth a visit and a picnic.

Don't interrupt me when I'm ignoring you!

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

No... It's hotter in the hills than it is on the coast in summer!

That's why when there's a calima in summer we REALLY suffer up here.

There are lots of BBQ areas on the way up to Teide! They are free and all you take is your food and drink and the chippings are already there for you to use to light the BBQ. Wardens go around and check to make sure it is clean for the next person. There is a play area for the children, so they can enjoy themselves and the views are fantastic. The one we normally go to is up to Camella and left at the church and follow the road all the way until you get there. You can't miss it. A brilliant day out if you want the peace and quiet of Tenerife and to get away from the tourist areas and to see something different. Take the camera!!
