Mount Teide in Tenerife is closed at Boca de Tauce until further notice

The road from Boca de Tauce to El Portillo is still closed from Boca de Tauce although I believe you can access the cable car and the Parador from the El Portillo side (north).

There are signs in Vilaflor informing drivers of the closure but even with my informed eye I assumed they were talking about road works in Vilaflor

I have been led to believe, although I don't know how reliable this information is, that the road will be shut for some time - possible weeks rather than days. The problem is not caused by snow as that is only above the road level but due to damage/rockfalls caused by the storm.

So if you wanted to go from the South to Teide and then drop down into Puerto de La Cruz would you be able to do so?

Nope, you can drive through Vilaflor but will get stopped at the road block at Boca de Tauce, so you can only turn left there and drive through the lava fields down through Chio for example. South to Puerto de la Cruz via Teide at the moment only by helicopter!!

Yeah, we drove up yesterday through Villaflor, got as far as the Boca de Tauce junction to get back down to Chio, everyone was being turned around at this point. Still a great drive up tho.

Anyone have a phone number to call to check if/when the road will be open?

Is the road from Boca Tauce to the cable car open yet on Teide, Tenerife?

Or does anyone have a number to call to check if it is or isn't?

Ignoring the road closed signs is attracting a €500 fine, so I have been told - ouch!

    And so they should.

How many news reports have we read lately about people kllled after ignoring warnings?

Contrary to popular belief they are there for a reason, don't you think?
