Question Are the new driving regulations in Tenerife true?

I have received an email from a friend, telling me the following........

... Spain has now passed a law making it an offence to drive with flip flops or thong sandals citing safety reasons. You can wear sandals but they have to have a strap around the heel. It is also an offence to drive topless (men and women), so if you are planning on driving to the beach over the next couple of months be wary of these new regulations! We suspect the enforcement will be quite lax but you could be the unlucky one ...

Does anyone know if this is true?

I knew you couldnt drive topless, but I didnt know anything about flip flops. I know they are dangerous to drive in, so I can see that being illegal.

According to the current law that as far as I can se hasnt been updated yet (Artículo 11 de la Ley de Seguridad Vial (Real Decreto Legislativo 339/1990, de 2 de marzo) it is ilegal to wear anything that restricts your movement and ability to drive safely, it doesnt say anything about not wearing clothes

Maybe the law is about to be passed and it hasnt been updated yet??

LOL - well in my experience, most thong wearers seem to have great difficulty in keeping them hidden, much to many a male's amusment!!

I reckon this is true as one night last week i was watching middle of the night TV as usual and there was something showing a man coming off the beach and getting in his car and it focused on the pedals and his flip flops slipping off the pedals and his flip flop and toes getting caught between the pedal, then a woman in sandals did the same and they was making a big deal about it.
Didn't understand enough to get it all but it seemed to be saying it wasn't allowed from what i could make out!
