Question What are your opinions on living in Amarilla Golf / Golf Del Sur in Tenerife?

Im after your opinions of living at the above on a full time basis? Have stayed at Amarilla before and found it a bit remote and too much of 'little Britian'(not the tv series!) about it.
I like it's location and some of the property's at Amarilla are very affordable at the moment. I like El medano and Los Abrigos but is priceyer there.
Any and all opinions sought.

I moved to Amarilla about 10 months ago and love it. We lived in Los Cristianos before but much prefer Amarilla. I think mainly because you don´t really get bothered by the tourists and the trade that they can bring (no offence tourists!) It stays quiet most of the time (which suits us) although that may depend whereabouts you are! It is just far enough away from the main towns if you do want to go in but has its own community´s within it. Obviously any of the places you mention are easier if you have a car although the buses are pretty good. We nearly moved to El Medano but decided not to because it does get very windy there throughout the winter. If you need any help regarding buying or viewing properties, I can recommend a good company to use over here. Let me know x

both areas are nice to live in but a car might be needed, found it a little windy, and you have the airport too nearby, rents and house prices are good though.

Tanks for your help guys. Think I would feel better Amarilla if it had at least one Spanish bar. I like the idea of being in a British community but Spain being a short walk away. Could also do with a new road from golf del sur to Los Abrigos.
Does anybody know if the onsite estate agents have a website, been unable to find one so far?

Thanks
Rob

golf del sur

hi, we are also looking at living in golf del sur, currently in uk but planning to move over there next year,
we,ve never even stayed in golf del sur, always los cristianos or las americas, but for living there, feel it would be a good place to live

We have lived on Golf for 2.1/2 years and love it...it's far enough away from the touristy areas but is also like a community with a lot of English people and when you don't speak a lot of Spanish it is a very good place to start. Easy driving to the supermarkets yet close to bars and restaurants and the sea. The only drawback is the fact it is on the flight path but to be honest it is something that you get used to very quickly and no different to living on a main road really.

IMHO both are as has been stated " little Britains " but of course in the sun.
If you are looking for somewhere to live it will depend on what you intend to do, whether you have children, need public transport , doctors etc .

Whilst both Golfs offer supermarkets , bars etc they are not really IMH the best places to live. You need to find somewhere more cosmoploitan away from Los cris and PLDA.There are many places some already mentioned El medano and Los Abrigos b ut also consider Las Galletas , Costa del Silencio as these offer a good mix of nationalities and facilities.

I for opne would avoid like the plague Callao Salvaje as i have lived there and hated it, however where you live and like is apersonal thing so just take peoples views on board.

renting for 3/6 months is usually a good idea if you are unsure as then you can move if you dont like it quite easliy and may find your " favorite " place when you get here.Good luck

I lived on Golf del sur for 10 years. I loved it, being able to walk to San Blas to the shops.
The only draw backs where the high community charges "I lived on Fairway Village" and the fact that everyone knows your business.
If they dont know it they will make something up.

I now live in Arico which is lovely.
