Does anyone know how I can get an appointment with a state dentist in Tenerife?

i have searched on the site and have found no menton of this, but if i've missed this subject sorry for duplicating.

I have been to the dentist to day with my 5year old girl and they have told me that 3 of her baby molars are probably have to be removed as they are going rotten. I have seen the x rays so have seen for myself the cavities.

the dentist i used was the Clincia Fanabe and the service I received was excellent the staff were great with Emily and i will return there for the followup.

But I don't have medical insurance as i am on the social so was wondering does anybody know from experince the procedure at Mohon for dentistry, do you still have to pay? are they any good? will they see children under 6?

any help would be greatly appricated

im not going to be much help but i do know that you can get state denistry but you need to be referred through your state doctor. The waiting lists are long so i think you would be better off using a private dentist. most do plans - which include paying in instalments and often free check ups and free teeth removal. Did the dentist says why they are rotten? ususual for somebody so young

Rotton teeth in youngsters over here are usually a case of drinking juice and also using a bottle longer than necessary. Once the damage is done it doesn't get better, unfortunately. I see it all the time at school.

My eldest daughter has 2 bad molars too and she drank lots of juice and used a bottle until she was 3, whereas my younger daughter gave up her bottle early and has no problems. Both of them don't eat a lot of sugar and have their teeth brushed 3 times a day.

You wouldn't believe how much the natural sugar in fruit juice damages teeth. Something for parents of young children to consider, as you'd think it'd be healthier than soft drinks... which it is, but you have to watch their teeth.

just go to your docter, and he will take contact with the dentist (both social)

if the doctor ask for the dentist , thing will speed up much faster!

good luck!

I called today to make an appointment with social dentist as my private dentist messed up a filling and I wanted their opinion, you just have to call the same number as for the doctor 012 and say you want a dentist appoinment, my nearest social dentist is in granadilla but there is another one in los cris. not much of a wait, appointment for Thursday.

they dont do fillings but they do extractions.

Thanks for that, I might make one for my daughter too... even though the doc told me to just wait until they drop out of their own accord!
