Can't advise you on other schools but my daughter goes to Las Zocas in San Miguel. This is definately in your catchment area and school buses for the school run through Las Chafiras. They cater for infants right through to secondary school students and we have found the staff and other pupils excellent. Good Luck with whatever choice you make.
The only way to have a friend is to be one.

I ve found it depends on a few things:

    The age of your child

How well are they doing with their English Education

    If they are easily led

The spanish schools are very different to the English schools over here.

When we first arrived my son went to a Spanish school and loved it but because he needs lots of disapline and finds learning boring, his education and behaviour suffered terribly so we had to move him to an English school.

Saying that I am not knocking the Spanish schools because I know lots of kids who have done really well in them.

Just listen to the advise on this thread really carefully (as I will be) and I hope you find the right school for your child.
Life is great...people are great....its all the rubbish that goes on in between

Hi there, I spoke to you on Sunday at K9. Good luck with finding a school for your daughter. My daughter goes to Las Americas School but used to go to Los Abrigos. She was put straight into a Spanish school when she was 7 so now she is fluent Canarian and is 11 now. There are a lot of English in Los Abrigos, so that might help your daughter due to the age she is, otherwise she may struggle a bit in a totally Spanish School, Spanish Schools are brilliant otherwise.

My daughter goes to Los Abrigos school and loves it, she has been there a year and fitted in straight away. Her spanish is still a little behind and she is repeating a year, but we were aware this would happen last year.

There is an english speaking teacher that you can contact, but to be fair the office staff are very friendly and speak good english too.

I think it really depends on where you are planning on staying for the rest of your child's school life. If you are going to be here, then they are better learning the spanish way of schooling, I know there English wont be as good as it is the second language, but as they will be speaking english to the family there english will not suffer as much as people worry about. My daughter for one, still reads her books in English and writes in english at home.

If you are not planning to stay in Tenerife for very long then best put them into an English school so that they do not get behind when you go back to the Uk.
Chilling out, taking life more slower and calmer....

My son also needed alot of discipline when he came to Spanish school. In the UK they were trying to decide if he was hyperactive or not just before we left. I decided not to mention it to the new Spanish school so that they wouldnt pre-judge him. Anyway they soon found out how boisterous and disruptive he could be but instead of making a fuss about it they channelled his energies into other things. He was "arty" so they got him making templates for the school fiesta decorations, helping the Canarian kids with their English, being a playground monitor (or whatever it's called here). Anyway he was so busy all the time he didn't have time to be a nuisance and he got on much better than he did in the UK.
He's 20 now and still a pain in the backside.
    It does matter :)
