Coffee Break Spanish podcast

I have been using a really useful and fun "Podcast" called Coffee Break Spanish: www.coffeebreakspanish.com

You can download the lesson as an mp3 file and listen to it on your computer or IPod. They are currently at lesson 64 and ALL the lessons can be downloaded from: http://www.radiolinguamedia.com/cbs/...s/library.html

(slightly confusing webpage... to go to earlier lessons, drag the left hand window down to the "next" link).

If you speak little or no Spanish start at the begining, I am a basic speaker and found I could get into it from lesson 30.
Good luck!

I am finding these podcasts very useful indeed. They are quite short sessions and take the learning through at a sensible pace with lots of repetition. I really got started about lesson 30 as I did find the earlier ones easy. (That was a boost to my confidence) I find them quite useful to have running in the background when playing the arcade games or 'patience'! And I have them on my ipod to listen to at any time - especially useful when travelling about (I'm not the driver!)

I listen to them while walking the dog. I sometimes get some strange looks when repeating the phrases to myself. I am nowhere near lesson 30!!!

We have been studying spanish for nearly two years - we had classes here in Callao Salvaje that were free ones run by the council. They were twice a week for several months. And we have been having private lessons since - but we don't practice as much as we should

I am a bit braver at trying out some of it in the shop but couldn't do it without the help of some of our customers who are very patient with me

In my case, some of the French I learnt at secondary school (a very long time ago), has resurfaced! Although useful when we get French customers, it gets in the way of the Spanish learning at times, cos I can't remember which is which!

Just have to keep learning a little bit more everyday - and enjoying understanding more of what I can hear & read! Certainly a lot more than when we got here - just not looking at how far we have to go

Mrs TT you cannot do worse that I did. We used to holiday twice a year in Greece. We had relatives there and a picked up a little of the language. One morning we went to a local coffee shop, and having worked out in advance what I was going to say in Greek, I ordered the coffees. The waitress repeated the order back to me in Greek and I got a bit confused. When I repeated the order I got the word for plain and the word for **** mixed up and ordered 1 **** coffee!!! A bit embarassing that, and the familly never let me forget it

Not sure about the spelling but the words you used were Sketto and Skatta!

I speak a bit of Greek as I used to live there along with Kirsty, not together of course but same Island and similar times.
Your story has brought some good memories back and also made me laugh at your misfortune! (sorry but thanks for this post)

I've found the Coffee Break Spanish podcasts really good even for things that were at a simpler level than I was at as they always clear up one or two points and are a useful revision.

They are about to finish the course at lesson 80 but lessons will be continued with a new programme called Show Time Spanish which begins on October 18th 2008 but to which you can subscribe now in iTunes.
