Have you tried some of the large hotels, it might be worth a go with all those languages. Or even the hospitals as they have translators on site. I envy you would love to be connversant in so many languages.
With those skills I really don't think you will have a problem. I am sure Excel resorts would snap you up, as would Diamond as the island is now becoming very international.

let me explain... i did find something in a hotel that required language skills, precisely the ones i know, because of the type of clients the hotel was having at that time, but a friend of the chief of animation moved from holland to tenerife the day after my interview and, even though he only spoke duch, he got the job!! how nice is that?
the hospitals? let's see, i did apply and i was called and the interview went fine, and the position was as a receptionist in one of the biggest hospitals in los cristianos, but guess who got the job? the canarian cleaning lady that is the niece of the father in law of the cousin of the nurse that runs the reception at the moment! and she only speaks... well, canarian. how nice is that?
so i guess that all i need here is to be friend of a friend of a friend, even if i have the brain as big as an olive it won't matter, would it?
In the other hand, yes it is useful to know so many languages because i can watch movies and tv series in their original language and enjoy it more that the translated ones, especially the spanish dubbed where it appears as there are only 10 dubbers in the whole continent and all movies and series sound the same!!
thanks for the replies... let's see if tomorrow i have better luck and i get an interview
I also applied at Excel's today... would be nice to work for them, wouldn't it?

Keep at it and dont get too down about the difficulties and bias here. Have you applied to Direct Telecom? They advertise for multi-lingual support staff and offer a full-contract. You could also apply to some of the embassies on the island as they always require linguists.

Both of you................. I will be straight in touch if I get any office vacancies, bu to be honest, no bugger ever leaves!! And the staff we have at present are very loyal and we have a great team.
If we find another office in the right location and at the right price then this will obviously create more jobs............
In the mean time I can only wish you luck.
