I think you may find that things are slightly different in Tenerife & I'm not sure they will recognise the UK qualifications.

They wont do and that's a fact after all why would they risk using someone who is far better qualified and also would do a better and safer job than a Canarian electrician!
However it doesn't stop the poster doing little jobs on the side found on places like this site!
I for one would much rather a British trained Sparky did any work i needed doing than a Spanish trained one.

Good to hear he & his work are recommended, but how will you convince Unelco/Endesa that all is okay

Why the surprise? Most countries expect both foreign qualified tradesmen and professionals to do additional exams before they are considered acceptable to work in the new country. In Tenerife, this test would be in Spanish.

Prime example even though its regarding Tenerife and the lack of acceptance of european qualifications a frienf of ours is a Ex Dutch Royal Navy Captain who could bring in the QE2 or similar into Santa Cruz Port is not Qualified to Captain a small boat here in Tenerife how stupid is that

That clearly illustrates my point, blue marlin. Anyone who has dealt with Unelco here will realise how their way of doing things is so different to the UK and Ireland - the paperwork they insist on is unreal, but must be met before you have any chance of a (legal) connection.
