Have you registered with the recruitment agents on the island? We recently helped a Hungarian friend of ours find some temporary work through some of these agents. There are quite a few of them in Los Cristianos near the social security office.
It can be a good inroad into a company if you can get a temporary position and impress them during your time. Also brings in some money while you are looking and it pays better than a normal salary. Our friend here was being paid 67 Euros a day cleaning hotel rooms!

Do they have any websites? It would be useful to have on the forum and we could make a sticky out of the info in the jobs section. I know Adecco are one in Los Cris, and I could probably find a site for them, as they are in many countries, however I can't remember the names of the others...
