Actually, its my old job they are trying to fill.... its a fantastic place to eat, all homecooked foods , cooked from fresh and served to high standards!!! not like some of the eating establishments on this island! Yes, next door may have the edge on breakfast and daytime snacks but its been established for a number of years and Matlock's as only been trading for a year!!! plus next door is a scottish bar!(and where do we flock when away from home....???)
If i didn't live on the other side of the island i would still be there....he's a good bloke to work for, as are bren and johnny boy...whoever applies will enjoy working for them!!!
(Matt, mines a glass of the red stuff next time i pop in...)

This was actually my wife using my name on here that posted this post, Matlocks is everything she said it was, it is a good bar and it is good food with nice people and yes Scotch Corner is busier due to a few obvious reasons.
But now i start, how dare you come on here accusing people of leaving people in the lurch?
She enjoyed working there, she would still be there now but a job a lot closer to home came up, with more hours so therefore better money. To work at matlocks my wife had a half hour walk for a bus then a 55 minute bus ride. She gave her notice and worked it unlike most people on here that get a new job and the first thing the old employer knows is when they don't turn in. She has also praised the bar and the job on here which is beneficial to both the bar and also any potential employee.
Don't come on here accusing my wife of leaving people in the lurch and demanding explanations, i don't have a clue who you are and i don't care, if you want any questions answering in the future about my wife and her employment please pm me and i would be more than happy to meet you in person to answer them until then shut the **** up.

We couldnt agree more with the positive comments on this thread. Matt and Alison are lovely people, our youngest played football with theirs last season and the bar is up and coming. Definately worth a visit. Great food and top company. We wish them all the best, give Matlocks a go , you wont regret it! Just a shame Matt is a Leeds supporter!......Bring back Dennis Wise. Gus stays at Tottenham!!! Paul, Michele, Luca and Sacha x

I drove past Matlocks on wednesday evening & here was not a soul in there, yet next door in Scotch Corner it was packed!
I wonder why?

I honestly dont know and dont understand it...... IMHO Matlocks is by FAR the best place of the two to eat. Then again, I think Matlocks is up with the best of them in that area for customer service, cost, value for money, great food et al.
BTW if anyone likes traditional Sunday Fayre.... GO try Matlocks.... Theirs is too die for.

I'm not calling either of the two, the last time i ate in Scotch Corner was about 2 yrs ago when we lived in Puerto Colon and it was very good. When i used to pick wifey up from work the staff next door always said hello etc. I think Scotch corner is busier for a few reasons, first being position, it does have a much better one, secondly PR's, they use them and Matlocks doesn't. They have also been there a lot longer and are well established with so much repeat business, also the Scottish are more patriotic than Yorkshire people and will always eat, mix and mingle with their own. Anyhow, this post is heading away from its original meaning and that job was to find Matt a part time cook not review restaurants. Who wants a job????????????
