Passed by the Star Bar in San Eugenio on Sunday noticed they had a sign outside looking for a waitress.

They always seem to be advertising for staff, how come?
The last few times they were left in the **** by people who were unreliable, but not too sure bout the recent changes. I can't see anything that stands out as to why though.

I speak from very minimal experience as I worked there for a very short time (!)
However some possible reasons for high turnover could be:-
You do not have an official break for lunch and are on your feet all day literally - if you want to eat you have to eat on the go! As staff you are not allowed to drink from china cups or glasses you have to use a plastic beaker kept behind the bar if you are caught using the cups or glasses - "he will go mad"! (him being the governor)........and don't be seen to be standing around even if you have no customers - look busy! When he arrives you have to all stand to attention and run about unloading the stock from the van.
I happened to work in there when one previous member of staff came in ranting and raving about the way she had been treated and threatened to take them to a tribunal (hmm unlikely to happen in Tenerife!) and asking for owed wages (which she was given)..... the whole place was treated to a dispaly of verbal abuse between the governor and previous member of staff - not unusual behaviour I was told!
The staff are generally nice and despite the above the governor is a really nice guy very much takes you on face value and decent with it.
As in all places there is some bitching between the staff - one of the guys there didn't like one of the older women and it does, like it or not, create an atmosphere, one of the chefs whilst a really nice guy goes into one now and again which may offend some people, although I know most chefs are full of their own self importance! however, this is in fact just a cafe menu and not the Ritz so not really justified!
If you can just get on with your job and not be too put off by what goes on around you it does have the potential to be a nice place to work - the holiday makers and locals who come in are really friendly and its a great way to meet people and the day does go really quickly.
Don't be put off by the above - just be wary and know what to expect! although of course they could by now have a whole new team - who knows! Good luck!!!!
somebody I know went in yesterday and the job has now gone
