PLEASE READ: Links and information if you are looking for work or jobs in Tenerife

As a lot of info is being repeated in posts, I thought I'd post some links to places where you can find advertised jobs in one thread and sticky it.

All the forum's online job lists, unless stated otherwise, will appear in the jobs available thread. If you have a job to advertise, please put it here too.

For work in Tenerife you could also try the Oasis FM & Power FM jobspots and Power FM also have a site called www.jobsinthecanaries.com.

If you can speak spanish, you might also be able to find your way round www.trabajos.com or www.elbaul.es. Both do job listings, but the sites are en Espaņol.

If you try and apply for a job before you actually live on the Island, don't be surprised if you're turned down. It's very rare for a company to employ someone before they've met them anywhere in the world... don't expect Tenerife to be any different.

Some jobs require a reasonable level of Spanish and English, so you might want to consider doing a bit of study if you have moments to spare before you come.

It's more than likely you will come out before getting employment, so make sure you have enough cash to tide you over (this includes money to live, car hire if you want to get one and money for apartment rental - enough for about 3 month's rent, as you should expect to have to put down at least a month's money as a deposit) and check out our threads on NIE & Social Security. There's a lot of paperwork to sort out, and you may need a month to sort yourself out once you arrive.

Apparently now, you need a Empadronimiento before you can get an NIE (see the NIE thread linked above). You need to have a permanent address and thus, a rental contract before you can get this. An Empadronimiento could take up to two weeks to be sorted out (though it's usually a week). You need an NIE to work and most employers ask that you have one before they will employ you.

    Be prepared!
