With the exchange being in turmoil at the moment, I'm not sure how much spending money do other members think I should bring.

We are a couple with a little boy.

We are a couple, self catering like going out every night to different restaurants etc have a few beers lunchtimes and usually get through around £500 a week but have added another £100 this year due to exchange rates.

A £1000 should be OK for drinks, meals and presents but you'd need your credit card for trips and car Hire.

    Smile Spending money

We used to take a minimum of £500 per week when you got about 1.5 euro to the pound but now as it's about 1 for 1 we took £750 to match the difference, depends on where you eat and drink of course, some show/cabaret bars charge 4-5 euro a drink, others like AJ'S BAR NONE were charging 2-2.5 per drink when we were last in Tenerife November 2008, Derek.

    beer money etc.

we are a couple and like to go out every night (til the wee hours). we are self catering and allow approx. £500-£600 per week. If you haven't done all the "must sees" you'll probably need another £200 or so. Hope this helps

A few years ago we used to budget 100 pounds a day, unfortunately as the kids (twin 18 year old boys) have increased there intake of food and alcohol that budget has increase a bit, last November 6 of us polished off about a grand in 4 days. However it was their 18th and we go-karted quite a bit and we all ate, drank and made merry late into the mornings!!

Just the wife and I are visiting again in April and will probably be bringing about 700, we will have plastic as back up though.

One thing I would advise is to bring Sterling and change it for Euros at the change/excursion booths as the exchange rate is normally better over there than on the high street in UK, obviously some Euros will be required for transfers and bits and pieces until you can exchange sterling.

    money money money!!!!!

We usually only take a few euros to travel with and use our debit card in the machines, usually drawing out 300 euros every third day avoiding commission and keeping the banks charge to a minimum, that covers us eating out, and going out most nights for entertainment and drinks for two.
We always hire a car booked on the internet pick up at the airport, and pay by card, use Auto reisen but had some good info from the forum on who's the cheapest.
In Dec our money seemed to just go!!! We do like going out in the evening makes our holiday, excursions not really our thing, if you want to go to theme parks etc you will certainly spend a lot more, most of the bars and restaurants are very competitive, we've found it's cheaper to eat out than trail to the supermarket. hope this helps

One couple minimdm £100 per day thats eating out quite cheaply most nights with maybe 3/4 special meals no hire car no taxis no excursions ( apart from Siam Park we;ve seen it all )

If you want to be a bit more extravegance allow £1000 per week

God remember the old days when a euro was less than 60p!!!!!!!!

'Tis the set of the sails
    And not the gales
That tells them the way to go

Hi when we come over we usually take a minimum of £1500, (for two weeks), if we can afford it abit more. what we don't use is an added bonus, keep it for our next hol to tenerife.

We generally eat out every night and drink quite a lot and we manage on that quite nicely. It will all depend if you want to do excursions too??

Just take what you can afford and take your cards with you. Whatever you decided to take i am sure you will have a fab holiday.

When are you coming out?? We don't come out till July.

    Enjoy yourselves

    Regards

    Julie x x x

Beer prices around town have fallen! Blaydon Races are down to €2 a pint and still offer workers prices, other bars along the patch & Veronica's are also selling beer at €2-2.50 so there is no reason for anybody to be paying €3 anymore.
