At last... A bit of culture! English theatre in Tenerife!
Hi, everyone.
I'd like to draw your attention to a Tenerife Sur “first”, which is happening this Sunday!
From Sunday 31st August (and every Sunday), for the first time in South Tenerife, we have real English theatre, with the first of a season of plays performed by Ian Sharrock (ex Emmerdale Farm), also featuring and supported by yours truly, Ian Anderson. The event is presented at “The Theatre”, Garden City, San Eugenio. (Doors Open 7.30pm, show starts at 8pm. No admission once the play has started.)
The first play is “It’s Not Mutton Jeff”, a darkly entertaining look into the mind of a serial killer, written by Chris Kaoran. It will be followed by my “Showstoppers” tribute to Broadway.
The night includes a basket meal and all local drinks, and tickets can be obtained from selected excursion booths, from the venue, or by calling me on 922 170 326 or 699 044 661 (mods - please leave the numbers in, as they are advertised anyway on the radio!). The face price of the tickets is 45€, but if you call me and mention the forum, I will do you a very special discounted price of 35€. Please note: discount applies to advance tickets only. Offer ends at midnight on Friday.
I'd also like to ask the mods to choose someone to review the event for the forum (PM me about that, please?), and I can set them up with free entry to the press area (which includes free bubbly and a buffet!).

While I've been struggling, recently, a lot of people here on the forum have said that they wish there was a way to help. Well, buying a ticket for this production would not only help me, but also give you a good night out and help to establish a really good new regular cultural event on the island.

Sounds like a good night, I would love to come but have 2 gigs myself on sundays, I will certainly mention it to a few people though, good luck with it.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, this show in it's present form has had to be cancelled for the time being.
Ian Sharrock will go ahead with a reduced package (at a much reduced price) from Sunday 14th Sept. Same time, same place, same play, but without the food and without my Showstoppers show.
Before the gossips get into gear, I'd like to stress that Ian and I have NOT fallen out or anything, and the decision to go with a reduced format is a mutual one, based on problems with ticketing. We agreed that, for now, it is better to do something with a ticket price sufficiently low as to be saleable by Ian and his wife and friends directly, until such time as we can comply with the comprehensive requirements of the tour operators and ticket agencies. I will continue to support him in the project, and will hopefully rejoin him when the ticketing problems have been resolved.
