Eating out Guia de Isora

Hi All
Anyone got any recommendations for good food and bars in Guia de Isora or nearby? Local delicacies preferred rather than typical English but quality and value most important thing.

We'll be based in Los Gigantes but want to explore around a bit so any recommendations within easy driving distance would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

Here's a few to try
El Bodegon in Chigergue
El Aljibe in Playa San Juan
Irache Gara in Vera de Erques
El Volante in Los Minores
Las Goteras in Tejina de Guia
El Romero de Chirche, in Chirche funnily enough!
El Granero in Tijoco Bajo
Rincon del Jorge in Guia de Isora

If you want place actually IN Guia Casco (Town Centre), try Rincon del Jorge. As you drive through the centre of Guia on the main road, just after Alteza, as you are about to leave the town and head out towards Chio, take the right hand turn up the hill. It's on your left.

It comes highly recommended from Canarian friends of mine, although I haven't tried it myself yet. Make sure you have the 'Copa de Fresa' for desert, an apparently it's to die for!

Edit : Just seen that you are in Los Gigantes, so you will be coming the other way... so as you hit the outskirts of Guia, coming from Chio & Tamaimo direction go left up the hill!

You can also try Zumeria San Juan on the junction to Teide just outside Chio. The owner's son is in my daughter's class at school and he speaks perfect English and will help you with your Spanish. It's just pizzas and stuff there though, but they sometimes have on live music and he always plays quality music.

If you have kids, try Bar Tenerife on the main road in Tamaimo. It's just by the Cepsa garage, just as the road bends round to go up the mountain (you would turn left at the junction in Tamaimo when you come up into the village from Gigantes). They have a fenced off play area for the kids with loads of toys in it, so you can relax and have a beer knowing they can't run off.

From Gigantes, if you head along the coast to Playa san Juan and take the first right at the roundabout, about half way along the sea front is a fantastic Italian place called Medeterranea. Pizza & pasta there... authentic Italian, as the owners are Italian.

You've mentioned this place in Guia before Kirsty, I must add it to my list. Do you know which day(s) they close?

Mondays, I think... or maybe Tuesday, as we were going to go that day and I'm sure that was the reason we didn't...
