You just don't get it do you?
Tenerife is more than big enough to accommodate every type of tourist, wherever they be working, middle or upper class there is something to attract everybody.
Remember it is the tattoo'd football shirt wearing Sun readers who first boosted Tenerife's economy enough to turn it into the top class holiday resort it is now,and those who sneer at it really do need to remove their heads from where the sun don't shine!!

I agree Doreen . We all need to work together without all the normal British Negativity and also jealousy , which unfortunatley the Brits do suffer from .
We all need people to come here as the Island has nothing else but tourism and if people don't spend money here we are ALL affected even if we aren't directly involved in tourism our selves .
I think there are some people also who are very scared but too scared to admit it that they are worried about their businesses too , (stiff upper lip and all,) but I think it shows how strong you are to be honest if you admit this as I feel every one at the moment is scared especially bar owners to be honest as they are on the front line so to speak.
A Brit said to me the other day we are all doomed because the weather in the UK is so good no one will go away .
(Maybe we should all do a collective Rain dance for the UK lol .)
I feel as I have said before the more we support and use each others services and Spend , the sooner things will turn around but I think people are too scared to spend at the Mo.
What is wrong with a football shirt by the way ?? Is that snobbery I wonder.![]()

What sort of new financially viable entertainment, restaurants and other attractions do you and any one else of the same mind envisage to improve the Island to make it a "bit more upmarket" and still remain a source of income to the existing businesses and the many inhabitants that rely on tourism for their very financial existence?.

I have friends over at the moment, they had priced visiting Tenerife against other places like Greece, Turkey and Cyprus and the prices were coming out much the same, ie no destination was massively cheaper/expensive that another.
They decided to come to Tenerife as it would give them a chance to catch up with old friends as she lived here before for a long time.
As far as I am concerned their holiday costs were, cheap, cheap, cheap - they paid a total of £240 each for their flights and accommodation. The flights were from one of the London airports (approx £170 each) and their accommodation is Laguna Park 2 (£10 a night each) - not the most salubrious place but, in their own words, they are not here to be in the apartment and will only be sleeping in it so it is only important that is is clean and functional.
The price of their holiday meant that there are two extra visitors this year - they normally manage to come over once a year in Nov/Dec so this is as 'extra' visit.
They have been spending well - Siam Park yesterday, Loro Park tomorrow, dinners out every night and either breakfast or lunch out as well.
Don't look back in anger

Tenerife can be both cheap and expensive, it all depends on the package that you buy. Some people prefer basic accomodation and more spending money, other people prefer the opposite. Fortunatley the Island can happily cater for both ends of the spectrum.
