What kind of bar would work in the Apolo Centre, Los Cristianos?

OK I am really interested to find out from the forum members about what KIND of bar do you think would work in Tenerife...in the Apolo Los Cristianos...and why.

Forget the cheap drinks crap because that only attracts people based on price. I am talking about ambiance, decor, entertainment, service, staff, comfort, style etc....

I really want you to think about this as it will help me make some VERY important decisions...\

As a reward for your effort I will give away a free meal for 2 at the Star of Asia including drinks for the best.

Your ideas have to answer all the above topics and must be origional if possible and I will judge the winner personally on Wednesday night.

Sorry if I sound a bit negative, but that is the saddest post I’ve seen. If you cant work it out for yourself try something else. What I really mean is times are hard for everyone, bars are a victim of the times, we are all in the same boat

Probably because he knows a lot of us and respects our opinions. Lots of us have lived here for years and can put a new, or different perspective on things. We´re not talking someone opening a bar with absolutely no clue - its a clever idea IMO.

If i knew the answers to this thread then i would be a successful bar owner still and not a failed bar owner like countless others on the forum!
At this moment in time i don't think any bar would really work in Tenerife, personally i would avoid owning one like the plague.
But for what its worth i think that the someone in the Apollo Centre would do well with an Irish bar, personally i hate Irish bars and avoid them at all costs but i can't think of one near the Apollo and for some reason they are always busy no matter where they are.
So what's a good night to come then for my free food then?

Any bar in that location will suffer if it depends purely upon passing trade. Bar owners now need to be smarter & have to attract customers in from further afield. Simply calling it an Irish/80's/reggae or whatever isn't enough. Neither is knocking 10c of a pint.

How many people going out for a meal in LC would've fancied Harry Ramsdons, if they had only known it was there?

I agree the location is not great for passing trade and also not upmarket enough for somewhere really nice!!?? Why did you stop trading as an Indian there? IMO it was the best Indian in Los Cris so my concern would be if that didn't work what actually would?? Put it up for trespaso or walk in rent and let someone else have a go at least you wil get the rent each month, unless of course its sitting empty! Tricky situation, just would be a shame to spend big bucks and see it fail!!

Harry ramstons used to be an Irish bar, that venture didn't work either, I too would love the an idea for a good bar here in Tenerife, but I think all other bars owners would too.

It´s good you are trying to do some market reserach, not sure what would work up there though. Might be worth sitting on your money till things pick up a little
