Just ordered some stuff from amazon.co.uk and have just noticed they have charged VAT.

Once I had looked into it under the help section, it states that for the Canary Islands, the system does not yet currently automatically deduct the VAT, however, if you email them, they will credit it back to your card manually.

So, just to let you know, if you are ordering goods from the UK to be delivered over here, then it is NOT vatable, so always look into it.

... but it is subject to IGIC and tax when it arrives here and you will have to go to Santa Cruz to pay the tax due, then go to the bank to pay it and then go back to the tax office with your receipt. It depends on the value of the goods that you have ordered as to whether it is worth it.

Another 'not quite legal' suggestion .... get the company to either mark the invoice on the shipping label - 'samples' ... or 'exchanges. Taxes already paid'
