Do remember that Estate Agents take commision, and any problems that youre tenants have, goes through the Estate agents then you, causing your tenants to wait longer, which does not please them. Look at the thread mentioning T.I.B.C. and when they put someone in an apartment they trashed it. Its just I have never used estate agents and have rented out my properties with no or very little problem. You can also personally "vet" the people, and you can decide if you want them to rent your apartment, and not just have anyone in. Something to think about Helen

Please be very careful who you use. You are far better to find someone highly recommended or that you know personally to look after it for you & then manage the lettings yourself.
I know of so many people who have trusted agents, only to find out they have been letting the property without telling the owners. In a couple of cases the owners have turned up thinking the apartment was empty, only to find people staying in it without their knowledge.
I am not saying all agents are the same, but as previously mentioned, it is far better to rent it out yourself via friends & family, that way you have an idea of who you are getting.
