Tenerife Forum members, I recommend this business because...
There seem to be an inordinate amount of threads on the forums which are devoted to complaints. How about we redress the balance a bit, and use this thread to give "praise where praise is due", for all those businesses who "did it right"?
I'll start it off by highly recommending the Vodafone shop in Chafiras Ferreteria, in Las Chafiras. I've dealt with them for a couple of years, now, and they've always been really helpful, even when I wasn't sure how to "say it in Spanish".
My latest dealing with them really pleasantly surprised me. My phone went wrong (not their fault - they do, occasionally!), so I took it into the shop under the warranty. I was dreading it! I expected (as I have had with other items in other shops) arguments about the warranty details, months of hassle, and no phone for ages.
Instead, what I got was "si señor, no problemo", a loan phone while mine was away, and (as I can now report) my phone returned to me working, on the day promised, with a smile and absolutely no fuss!
The only complaint I have ever heard about them was a lack of staff at busy times, but I think a bit of a queue is a small price to pay for excellent service.
I heartily recommend you bear them in mind the next time you need a phone or a new contract.

I recommend the Sol Bank opposite the bus stops in Los Cristianos. Go in and ask to speak to Janet as she is extremely helpful. All the staff speak english and the queues are very small if at all. They also have a great internet banking system again in english that even a moron like myself finds easy to use.
Tenerife has a terrible reputation for bad banks, I should know as I have had accounts with 6 of them up to now, but this is the one bank I CAN recommend.
Next recommendation please.......

Still on the subject of banks. Banco Santander's(SanEugenio) very own Kevin is an absolute star when it comes to dealing with any monetry matters. He is helpful, very well recommended by a lot of my friends also. After a bereavment in my family he gave me some very sound advise which resulted in me switching from another spanish bank to Santander. He's always just an email away and nothing is too much bother.........

Sorry to sound boring but I cannot help but recommend another Banco Santander employee as being really helpful and very efficient.
She is from the Los Gigantes branch and her name is Fiona McIntyre. Unfortunately Fiona will be returning to the UK on 31st October and we wish her well, she will be missed.
We hope that her replacement is half as good as she has been.
Well i can recommend the opticians in el medano my daughter got glasses there over a year ago and 3 days ago they snapped in half across the nose bridge. i told her to see if the optician could mend them. He had them replaced with brand new ones under the guarantee which she didnt even know she had. How good is that?????

Banco Santander in Los Gigantes has given me good service since 1990 and Fiona has been particularly helpful. I'm with Poolepirate on this recommendation

Sorry to be a miserable barsteward but all you are doing is celebrating the fact that they are fulfilling their obligations under a contract.
Maybe they are only fulfilling their obligations under contract but contracts usually deal with the products, not the customer/staff realtionship.
I think that is what the theme of this thread is about, though I must qualify that with the caveat "being able to speak some Spanish" would surely go a long way when dealing with local institutions/businesses
See Megsdad thread about the trials he has had with a bank.....there the staff, it seems, hid behind contractual obligations rather than being "personal" with the clients.
As for a recommendation of a "Spanish" business/institution from myself, I would have to say that, along with my caveat above, the Hacienda (taxman) and Seguridad Social (Social Security) offices are more than willing to advise and help when needed.
