I got done by them a couple of weeks back, not for speeding mind. I moved over to let trafic join the motorway and one of the cars that joined the motorway pulled right out in front of me, almost clipping my front. He then put his foot on the brake causing me to slow down. Next thing, he's put on the stop sign, pulled me over and gave me a 120€ fine for driving too close Got a word for him but I don't think you would like it on here.
There were a lot of police today on the roads .....
They stopped me to (in Paraiso) as my front numero de matricalation ( numberplate) wasent on my car .
It misteriusly dissapearred or dropped of yesterday ......... Luckely i saw it yesterday evening and printed a new number with computer and putted it on the inside of my front window .
I showed the printed one mumbled some stuf in half spanish/flemish and they let me drive of.....lucky me .
Of course i am also still driving on my Belgian numberplates . Perhaps they would of reacted differently if i already had spanish ones ........... We will know in a few months how they react when i have spanish plates . Better yet if they dont stop me

They are getting more unmarked cars now, i know of four to watch for, a dark green Peugeot 406, a dark silver grey Lancia saloon which normally patrols the TF1, a silver Subaru Impreza estate and a gold citroen picasso with dark windows in the back and rear. I saw the green 406 doing a speed trap on the coast road between Callao Salvaje and Abama with the radar on the parcel shelf and a marked Guardia car pulling cars in in a bus stop 1/2 mile down the road. Does anyone know of any other plain cars to watch for?

Nothing new i remember the Guardia civil having them 12 years ago. White Ford Mondeo´s but thanks for the info
I´d seen the Local´s nick a BMW boy racer in Las Chafiras near Coca-cola about a month ago. This guy was handbrake turning like in an American action movie.

Or how about sticking to the speed limits to leave the police free to catch all the local boy racers who are so dangerous
Or how about anyone who knows any others to warn forum members as we all know that they love to fine the English for nothing, (see afore mentioned post about the police deliberately pulling out in front of someone then fining them for driving to close), any info is good info! I am not a boy racer and stick to the speed limits as i drive for a living out here but any information in our favour is obviously helpful, surely you realise that Doreen. Unless you get chauffered everywhere then obviously it doesn't affect you?

Well, I´ve been driving on Tenerife roads for 5 years or so and have never been stopped - I keep to the limits and always stay well back from any car in front... oh, and I make sure the chauffeur does likewise
Nor me, never been stopped, and I will admit to the odd bit of speedin when necesary!!!!! Plus getting into the canarian way of driving at 7 30 in the morning
Some one once told me it has something to do with having kids in my car, they always wave you on, have to admit its worked so far!!!!
