    Question Sailing costs in Tenerife?

Can anyone help me in finding a good place to hire a decent sailboat for a reasonable price in Tenerife.

In December, my buddy came over who is a sailboat owner and competent RYA qualified yachtsman and the prices down at peurto Colon were stupendous compared to the UK (650 Euros per day for 40 footer) and we had to have a backseat skipper (you know, the boat owner watching every time we pull the sail or throttle up - kind of spoils the fun with a stranger watching you). Los Cristianos harbour is very commercial and I only saw one or two sailboats.

In the UK, a simliar boat is about £1200 for the whole week, so I guess the 250-300 euro mark per day would have been fair?

We ended up going to the top of Mount Teide for the day we intended to sail which was nice, but I would have rather taken to the high seas for some bathing and the odd G&T anchored off La Gomera.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

No I do not. My Buddy does however and he visits us and wants to take a boat out while he's here. He has his day skipper, navs and ocean qualifications including his logs etc. He owns his own boat as well and rents to people in the Uk down at Port Solent.

We have been 'toying' with the idea of taking a boat out in Tenerfie, especially if the day rates we have been quoted are real.

    Any help?

I have been boating all my life, mainly Motor, but knowing the freak gusty winds around here, I would think sailing is very very hard work, and needs a lot of skill. i.e 0 to 25 knots in a matter of seconds, from many directions. Guess thats why not many sailing boats
