A question posed by one of my customers. I know Thor Heyerdahl spent his final days living in Tenerife, but I can't find out if there's any museums dedicated to him. I think if it's anywhere it will be in Guimar.
Any info would be well appreciated.

There is a museum, funded I think by the Heyerdahl foundation, which also has a reconstruction of the raft, in the Pyramid Centre at Güímar. The raft itself is outside the museum proper, in the grounds where the pyramids are.
(Can you tell I´ve got my new laptop now, with Spanish keyboard! )
And nobody does an excursion there! People come in my shop looking for new trips.
This island has so much more to offer hasn't it?
By the way Janet, I've changed my keyboards in the shop back to English layout, all bar one. Because I'm fed up with telling everyone where the @ key is!

Look at my avatar!!! Copies of Thor Heyerdahl's crafts are there....made by Peruvians last year. he was a truly remarkable man.The Museum and its surroundings, especially the pyramids, are wonderful and under the dramatic landscape of the mountains. If travelling from southern Tenerife take the Guimar road towards the mountains, not the coast. it winds up quite a way but is obvious when you get there. A good half-day afternoon trip and I suggest you team it with Candelaria in the morning. (Shops closed p.m.....less atmosphere! The restaurant/cafe opposite the Guimar entrance does good tapas. You can sit outside and watch the world go by while listening to Canarian voices.
Bet the Guagua goes there!!

Yes I have, Janet. They're in 'pictures' in this computer but I need an 'idiot-proof' set of instructions in very simple language to get them onto this thread. Have longed to do it for all sorts of threads for ages....I could bore and bore everyone......again!!
