Why are there so few Black people living or on holiday in Tenerife?
A friend of mine is black and lives in the UK, after recently staying here on holiday she asked me why there are so few British black people in Tenerife, even on holiday.
I never really thought about it before, but all of my friends are white and I can only think of two or three black people who I know who live here and British. Furthermore where I work I see very few black people on holiday. Last year I think I saw one black family on holiday.
So, why is this? The best explanation I can offer is that black people tend to visit their their roots when they go on holiday, yes, I'm clutching at straws....
Any ideas?

My daughters boy friend loves it in Tenerife.
My wifes best friend is black and we have been holidaying on Tenerife together for the past 9 years...( not been anywhere since and it was her friend who dragged us here kicking and screaming) and they absolutely love it.

Or maybe you just don't notice what colour a person is? Not like you walk down the street & say "oooooooooooh look a black man" is it?
Does it really matter how many black people visit Tenerife?

It would appear it does to my friend.
seriously though, have a look while you're out at a touristy restaurant or bar next and look at the ratio.

No different to been in the UK. Most customers in a restaurant or bar will be white. Unless you visit a predominantly black area of course.
Sorry but I got better things to do than take notes on how many blacks are eating in the restaurant!

Mmmmmmmmm, no need for that, but also it is just an avatar.
I'm not actually black.
Sorry for any confusion.
