Swimming pool safety and the law

Moved from the 'Port Royale owners thread'

Non touristic complex either has to have lifeguard (and the above sad event could happen outside pool hours but complex still complies with law) or fences off pool no lifeguard but complies with law

I find the whole thing bizzare

That's correct, but how many times that happened in Los Cristianos in the last 20 years? Hasn't happened at PR, Paloma Beach, San Marino, Cristian Sur, Ten Sur, Vic Court 1 or 2.........

Only in the last 6 months, prior to that how many drownings? End of the day it's down to parents to supervise their kids outside of the opening times

Loaded, this is the law. It's not relevant whether it's sensible or not!

that's what i'm saying, re-read my posts.

the law says you have to have a lifeguard during the timetable of the pool, it doesn't say they have to be closed in - so the law is that you can leave the pool areas accessible to minors so long as the lifeguard is there during the timetable - if a kid falls in after the lifeguard knocks off, that's ok as far as the law states.

Sorry but I read this differently. If the pool is open it must be guarded at all times, if it is fenced and can be closed off it does not need a guard when closed only when open this seems to be logical.
The pool at Port Royale is open so would need a guard on duty 24/7. If it is closed off it would only need a guard when accessible,
