Are you allowed to take a laptop case as hand luggage?

Hi, does anyone know whether you are allowed to take a laptop case as hand luggage?

I think it depends on the airline, but I've heard of people leaving Tenerife with them. I don't know about your chances of bringing it back though

Which airline?? Someone might know specifically.

I flew with BA in March from Gatwick & took my large laptop case as hand luggage, with no problems!

Just remember that it will be classed as your one piece of hand luggage. We take ours no problem

Laptop Bags

As long as the bag fits in the little basket for checking dimensions then it should be fine.

If not there are a bunch of rucksacks on the market now that have a padded partition in the back for a laptop. Also allows seperation for carrying a lot of other travel items (passport, book, mp3 player, camera, etc) that you would not want consigned to the hold.

Remember to take it out at security for seperate scanning.

Yep, I go on business from Tenerife to UK all the time.

I carry my laptop case AND my camera case as handluggage, and I've flown with many many different airlines.

I've never had a problem.

It might be good to check on the website where you booked your flight (if online) just to double check, or to pay a tiny fee to make up some more weight for it to pass.

But yeah, I've been doing it for years, and I've got a 17" screen big old laptop.
So, I think you'll be just fine.
