Question Do you know anybody who gives private acoustic guitar classes in Tenerife?

Does anybody know anything about guitar lessons in the south of Tenerife? I know the EMMA, the music school of Adeje, offers cheap courses starting in September. I was going to sign up this year but then we decided to go on honeymoon... and I am not sure that place would really be for me, as I am not really keen on having classes together with people of all ages. I want to learn to play the acoustic guitar (it's been a dream of mine for many years) and well, I wouldn't mind doing it privately if it's not too expensive. It wouldn't be till at least early next year, either, but I thought I'd ask here (as you guys know so much, hehe), so I could really set my mind to it. Do you know anybody who gives private classes? Or any other (good) music schools? Does anybody of you play the guitar? (I am not interested in classical guitar... I love folk songs and would like to learn not only chords but also a bit of proper finger work) Also, what's your opinion - is playing the guitar, or learning to play it, easy? I've heard so many different thoughts...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Teach yourself using the web. It's far better.

I had lessons as a kid, but taught myself extra chords a LOT later on. It's far easier to find a song and practise it to death until you can change between the chords. You can then practise when you want to

I know loads of guitar players here. But they don't teach, that I know of - sorry.

I play guitar and bass. I think that depending on your learning capability, it will determine how good/bad, fast/slow, intricate/basic you learn.

I taught myself, spending a few hours a day (or whenever I could, but consistently) sitting down with a book of chords and tablature and sat on the floor, and learned each chord. I think if being taught doesn't work, teach yourself! Go at your own pace, then when you want to learn the more fancy stuff, go to a teacher.

self-studying is not really my thing, though. i always prefer learning things with a teacher, as it keeps me motivated. my hubby plays himself but i know he'd soon lose interest in teaching me on a regularly basis...

I teach kids to play classical, electric and folk guitar in my spare time here in the UK....
If you cant find anyone to teach you there are plaenty of good books you can buy to teach yourself. I would suggest you don't over do it at first as this is what puts most people off. A lot of people think after a few hours they will be jiimy page'ing it around the room...but its just not that easy.. Take your time and don't be disheartened if it takes a while to get a grip of it.

If you want you can always give me a pm with your email address and I can email you over the chords/music I teach and you could work your way through it.

I don't understand guitars and string instruments in general At least with keyboard and wind instruments you can actually see where the notes that you want are

Don't interrupt me when I'm ignoring you!

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

Are you saying you'd rather blow than pluck?
