you should be able to watch spanish channels on any tv, with or without a video
If we really learned from our mistakes I'd be a genius by now.

Shouldn't need a video, just set your TV on auto tune and it should find all the spanish channels avaliable in the area.

I get a picture of some sort but it's snowy to say the least. And this is the second place I've tried it.

Probably means your aerial is bad, bearing in mind the video can only use the same aerial.
I started out with nothing, and still have most of it left!

If it's a fairly new TV, you should be able to set the county and language in one of the set-up menus.

Choose ES (Spain) for the country and UK / GB / EN (English) for the Language.
Or if you want to be adventurous, choose ES for the language too and see if you can work out what to do then

I was advised when we left for Tenerife, that unless we could change the "Country" on our UK TV, we would get a picture but no sound. I don't know how true that is so wouldn't pin too much credence on it (Apply the Tenerife rule and believe nothing until you have done it yourself, and even then expect it to be different next time ).

But if the picture is snowy then to me too it sounds like a bad aerial / reception.

    Good luck.
