The one thing I have learnt with website design is to ask yourself one very simple but important question, do you know what you want out of your site when it goes on line?

Some people just want a static site which is like an online brochure that never changes, but then if that is all it is, maybe you wont get much repeat visits. Other people want it to sell things from, a sort of online shopfront, that needs different structures or programming. Others want really busy fancy flashing lights and things .... Yet others want to be able to easily up date the site themselves on a regular basis so need to have an easy to use 'back room'.

Once you know what you want, then it will be easier for whichever Designer works with you to deliver.

If you just say you 'want a website' it makes it very difficult for you and the designer

(just read that back and it seems like I am having a go, not meant to, but just speaking from experience of my early days when I just 'wanted a website'!)

Cheers

sgd

It is not just how it looks it is how the site performs. It's no good having a lovely looking site if it does not get found by the search engines.

Content is all important. Wording has to be impactful and tell people clearly who you are and what you do and leave readers wanting to use your company or services.

Not blowing ny own trumpet, as I don't need to...

It all depends what you need as to what you want.

If you want a simple, cheap, design, but professinal looking... then I can only say, mine

If you need a database drive website, then I can also say... only mine... but only because I have found a FANTASTIC database guy that can make anything for you.

It all depends what you want, and at what cost... because it can change considerably depending on what you need.

All I can recommend (apart from myself) is that you check out sortedsite.com and my own website, www.kirstyjay.com

please do a search on websites too, as others have boon suggested, and make sure you do your homework... as people ofen say they're good, but may be fibbing.

I don't feel the need to cast any stones on here. They are all good. Make your own choice after consulting. Do a good search.
