We are over this week and have been informed there is a holiday on friday, does anyone know weather there is any special events going on?
Don't know of anything specific, but I would of thought there will be events all over, its Spains National Day or the Dia de la Hispanidad.
Bet you I don't get the day off though!!!!

Friday is THE national Spanish holiday, Dia de la Hispanidad, or Spain Day. It's every 12th October, and the main centre of celebration is Madrid, with the royal family, and the Prime Minister (aka President of the Government) watching a military march past. There's also an aerobatic display by a special division of the Spanish Air Force, the equivalent of the Red Arrows.
The day is celebrated everywhere in Spain, with most commercial and official outlets and services closed. I don't know of any particular celebrations planned ... it's the nearest thing to a UK bank holiday you'll find anywhere in Spain though.
The last time we were over it was canarian day and that was a ball dont want to miss anything maybe i can email the tourist office, errr? anyone got an email for the tourist office or culture centre?

I am so disillusioned. I thought it was taking place in Callao Salvaje for completely different and far more sensible reasons.
