If so, would you like to advertise it on my site? If so, I would like to include it in a side project I am working on www.working-holiday.ws aimed at independent travellers who want the option of being able to work when they get here. Please PM me if you have a property that might be suitable. From what I can see, virtually no appartments come with internet connectivity thrown in - and therein lies the opportunity And bear in mind, this kind of client is probably prepared to pay more rent for the convienience of having uninterupted access to the web... Now, I am just wondering if the new Vodafone or Movistar thingummyjigs (pardon my computer illiteracy) would be an option (39 to 49 euros a month) ... though you would have to take quite a hefty deposit to ensure return of the laptop plug in. | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to doreen For This Useful Post: | | 3rd October 2007, 15:39 | #7 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Nov 2006 Gender: Posts: 513 | I seem to remember seeing somewhere on t'interweb a Wi-Fi router which would accept a Vodafone type card in a slot on the back. It was supposed to be to back up the normal ADSL connection just incase the phone line went down, but I'm sure it could be in "backup" mode all of the time. All the computers in the house could then share the connection. That way the router could be tucked away in a cupboard or something to reduce the risk of things going missing. I will have another look to see if I can find it again, I've no idea which site I saw it on but remember thinking it was a good idea if you had to have internet ALWAYS on. potdog. | | | 3rd October 2007, 16:49 | #8 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Ireland Gender: Posts: 718 | Quote: Originally Posted by doreen Good idea, globalguy - it is something I have been considering for some luxury properties, but was not sure how to disable the phone line (and that's presuming Telefonica would oblige with a connection) - I suppose phone line rental & ADSL would cost around 65 - 70 euros a month. As potdog said you could always lock away the router. Most laptops nowadays come with wireless card built in that auto sence the wireless router or any wireless broadband near by. You could then password protect the router and just give the password to any renters. I'm sure I have seen on here that you can get broadband with a router quiet reasonable and with line rental it might cost 55 or so a week devided by 4 equals 14 a week. Then a charge for weekly rental of the "password" for unlimited access. As for luxury houses its a huge market here now for smart homes and its amazing what you can do. Think we chatted on this before. __________________ Tom I don't mind coming to work, But that eight hour wait to go home is a bi - ch." The target market I have in mind will all bring their laptops on holiday with them. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | |
