A RECORD number of tourists are expected to fly out of Manchester Airport for next month's half-term break.

The poor summer weather and a growing trend to take more than one foreign holiday a year are behind the great getaway, says airport boss Andrew Cornish.

He says more than 330,000 people will fly in and out between Friday October 19 and Monday October 22 when most schools break up.

About 200,000 are flying out and the rest are flights into Manchester.

I was just saying to my hubby last night that it seems busier now than what it was in the summer months - Think a lot of people were waiting till the schools went back.

My friends and family are anxious to have me report back once I am there. Word of mouth hopefully opens a whole new market from here, at least a handful of tourists. Diversion from Central and South America is a real possibility with the huricanes and stronger Cdn dollar.

it also seams that next years bookings are up and they are booking this year instead of waiting to jan as usual the bad weather in the uk this year should help david
