Question Does anyone on the forum know anything about TDT in Tenerife?

I bought a TDT box yesterday as I was told that all I have to do is to plug my ariel(which is a community ariel) into the DT box to recieve the extra channels.

Well, I did everything correctly and no channels at all were found. Is it because I need my owm personal ariel? Or will the community one need moving?

Cheers

We have just had TDT installed on our complex, and we get 21 channels of excellent quality picture. Pity about the programmes. If you live on a complex, and it sounds like you do, I think the community has a legal obligation under Spanish law to provide this. Something is obviously wrong, and might be one of many: nobody has a signal, your socket faulty, etc. You need to talk with Spanish neighbours or the president to see whether this is a general problem.

I am the President!

The normal ariel works fine for Spanish tv. It´s just will the TDT box work from the Community ariel as it is or will that need adjusting?

I think it will need more than adjusting, you need to install a TDT system on the complex. As I understand it, this it completely different to the analogue TV system. As I said, we have just had it installed here (cost 2800 euros) for a complex of 100 apartments, but it did not require the committee to ask the AGM for approval because under Spanish law it is obligatory to provide it. (I suppose some could quibble over the timing, but the analogue signal will at some point be switched off). As president, you are entitled (or indeed obliged)to investigate this - ours was installed by PH Electronic in Guargacho who seem very much on the ball - tel 922 78 31 16 (no website). They will tell you exactly what the situation is.
