We are all with Vodaphone here and the price of the phones depend on what you choose. I just want to make and receive calls so mine was about 40 euros, my son and daughter wanted their phones to do just about everything including make their bed and cook their breakfast so cost 110 and 180 euros.
The thing I like about Vodaphone pay as you go is every time you top up you get a text message a few days later informing you that you have been given the same amount that you topped up free. We normally top up 20 euros at a time but with the free credit we end up with 40 euros which lasts me for ages.

What do you mean by "ready to go"?? Pay as you go, rather than contract?? As far as how much they cost, it pretty much depends on make and model ... anything from 60 Euros to 300!

There are several threads on here about tariffs for both, anyway, so why not put a few keywords into the search facility?

OK, so you choose a phone, and the cost will vary. You'll find it hard, I think to find one under 45 Euros, probably 60-80 should buy you a decent basic phone, though if you want a camera in it, then you're probably looking at a bit more.

The phone itself doesn't affect the Pay as you go tariff, I don't think, so the real question is whether you choose Vodafone or Movistar. Have a look HERE ...

I bought one from the Movistar shop. 38€ including 12€ credit.

(I can't use it though )

Get your phone unblocked,(Most companies that sell phones tend to block their phones so that only their network will work on that phone so If you get it from say Vodafone you can only get their network on it) there are several places in dublin that will do that before you go(theres a place in Tenerife that will do it also). Then when you get there just buy a Sim card and it will work in your phone just fine. I think my wife payed 14 euros for a sim and that included Credit.

The first thing I always do when I get a phone from one of those companies is have it unblocked.

You can unlock a sim for free on the net. Do a google search, or a search on here... as I posted a link in the past to an unlocking site.
