Are Scottish bank notes easily exchanged in Tenerife?
hi all, coming out on friday, after reading a few threads i had decided to bring my money with me and change it when i get there, yesterday however i was talking to someone who told me the rate they go on scottish money wasn't as good as engish money and i would be better changing to euros here in the uk, does anyone know about any problems changing scottish money(sterling)?
actually there are no problems changing scottish money, but as your friends already mentioned, the rates are a bit lower than the english equivalent. then again, if you change your scottish money in the UK, you lose more, so you may as well change it here, which i assume works out more or less the same
To be honest when I lived in Scotland and came to Tenerife on holiday I used to bring English notes. I was always told that Scottish notes were not readily accepted here. I don't know if that is still the case though. The cash dispensers in Glasgow airport always give you English notes and I often wondered why. I assumed it was for the benefit of holiday makers.

A lot of people simply do not recognize Scottish (and Northern Ireland) notes so shy away from accepting them. The banks should take them no bother and give the same exchange rate. Safest thing is to swap them before you leave then you will have no bother.

For years I changed my Scottish notes for English before coming to Tenerife. Now there is no problem changing them in the exchange places and you get the same rate as everyone else. Try the commission free places, as the banks may give you a lower rate, though I don't see why.

We usually take english notes but have never had a problem when changing the odd scottish note. Admiral travel give the same rate. No way would I accept anything less
