Talking I thought some of you might like to see my web-log:

Since I've been living with a traditional Canarian family for the better part of 2 years, I thought I had a pretty unique perspective of the real Canarian culture:

http://tenerife-training.net/Tenerif...ng-Blog/?cat=5

I've linked it to the "island life" section that's got nothing to do with cycling. Actually the entire blog is a little over 2 weeks old, and already contains >25 articles. I'm slowly figuring out its exact niche.

"The voice" will eventually be expanded into a controversial section about the current problems of modern society culture, possible causes, solutions & the future. It'll be based on numerous books I've read. That ought to make for some interesting reading...

Thanks all for your positive opinions!
Such a friendly forum this is really...

I know I won't have the time or the inspiration to come up with new articles every single day like I have been doing... but I do love to write about my experiences, so it will be updated often (at least a few times a week).

I guess I do have a few unique perspectives:
  1. As ozzy living here in the North on a traditional finca with the locals
  2. As a cyclist living on a volcanic island
  3. As an ex-research scientist with many crazy thoughts.
The infamous "cosecha" (grape harvest) is coming up in 5 or 6 weeks' time. I intend to write a good article about that & I want to take a short video. Also the oranges will be coming into season... there's plenty to write about!

Synchronicities new blog

Synchronicity: I have taken a look at your blog and would like to thank you for doing what you are doing. I am from the U.S., been living here for almost 2 years (with many visits from the mid 90s on) and have many opinions about the Canaries and Spain. Some of it highly critical. I noticed that you blogged about siesta. I hated siesta from the first moment I experienced it in 1995. I see it as a dysfunctional way to do business, affects employees who have to travel a great distance, and certainly adds to the ever explosive traffic problem. I have built a great dislike for local politics and politicians (corrupt to the core), and the increasing violence among young Spanish and Canarian males. Like you I am imbedded within a well-connected Canarian family and continue to learn the inside culture, the inside problems. I often hear from Canarians that the islands are a paradise. Well, I agree if you have money. If you don´t . . . it´s a struggle and hardly paradisiacal. There is much here to like and much more that causes distress. I hope that your new blogsite will offer information about both. There are few, if any english-speaking blogs that come out of the Canaries. Yours is a badly needed addition. I´ll certainly drop by from time to time and see what you´re up to. Best of luck.

Thanks Akualele,

Yeah we definitely have a different perspective than the rest. I agree 100%. If you have money, its a paradise, if not, its a struggle. I currently fall into the "life is a struggle" category. Someday, I hope my website pays off. I've really put my heart & soul into it over the last year or more.

I've expanded the blog somewhat. I've been pretty busy this week, so hence no time for as many updates as last week. But I think its great fun, so I'll continue with it...
