What 'pressie' should I buy?

Help! I have a Spanish friend. She has helped me beyond belief. I worked with her three years ago (for five years) and have had no contact with her until recently. My life has been turned upside down and I called her for advice. She has been an absolute star, bent over backwards to help me - just totally unbelievable. I wouldn't mind when we worked together we fell out like cat and dog - like hubby really - well still with him 23 years later - off topic - what can I buy her to express by gratitude. She will not accept any money off me at all. She will be taking me to Santa Cruz soon and will not even let me put petrol in her car! I don't even know her favourite perfume - shame on me! Her pride and joy is her 8 year old only child - son. So possibly a little present for him too. I've only got a 22 year old daughter so I don't even know what little boys like (no dirty comments please). Any help here would be kindly appreciated.

why don´t you buy her a plant or fruit tree for her garden that way she can be reminded of your gratitude everyday and when the plant/tree flourishes so will your friendship as for the little one anything that is computer/ps2 related is a sure bet you will be his favourite friend

Do you know I went on holiday last year and asked my next door neighbour to water my plants for me. While I was on 'jollies' I saw some Aloe Vera plants and thought they were lovely. So I got my neighbour one as a thank you. It is flourishing and I look at it most days - stupid me! Thanks for reminding me!

You're making me all sentimental now - 'mummy's' out in August, gonna get her one, but could she take it back?

Anything will do........

Karen, as long as the sentiment is there, I really don't think it matters what the gift is. Why not invite them over for a nice meal and give her a night off from the norm?

I was going to suggest something she wouldn't get for herself such as a spa treatment, manicure etc. or bouquet of wonderful flowers the quickest way to melt a girl or just say thank you, for the little boy..... a paddling pool, pool toys, spiderman things, transformers (cars that change into a robot thingy) selction of 'match box' toy cars, sorry missed out the 'or' between those choices !!
