Scotsthistle, I live in England and therefore I wouldn't know what it's like to miss my family as they all live here too. You have the most precious family members with you, be strong for them and yourself, you can do it
As Blue Marlin says, other members of this wonderful forum will give you support and advice, some, I would expect, with a similar experience.
All the best and be strong

"To weep is to make less the depth of grief." - Shakespeare
Amazingly, science is beginning to confirm the accuracy of such statements. For the first time in history, researchers are verifying that crying is for us because tears appear to reduce tensions, remove toxins, and increase the body's ability to heal itself. In short, scientists are drawing the conclusion that people who are able to cry may enjoy better physical and emotional health.
Got those pearls of wisdom from here Not much help when you're feeling low, I know, but take heart that at least crying is doing you good.
I'm sure you'll come out the other side smiling, just look at all the funny posts on here, and I'm sure you'll make some good, supportive friends on this forum too!
Scotsthistle. look what you've achieved! A while back you thought you would have to leave the island but you've picked yourself up and kept the routine for your girls and found some stability. You've been giving encouragement to others too. The social bit is difficult for all of us when children are young but eventually it will grow. Try to do something new everyday, however small, keep busy and smile at everyone as you pass them. Most people respond to a chat or a friendly word. It's evening time which is often a bit depressing. Wait until tomorrow morning when the sun shines, the mountain soars to the sky, the girls will wake you cheerfully and you'll be more content.
Have you got any chocolate in the fridge? It really helps! Margaretta

oh dear I feel for you I really do and don't really know what to say to make it better. Sometimes we all miss family and friends back home, but we made our choice to move over here to live a new and better life for ourselves and our children and we need to remember that. Sometimes I just look at the sky and remember that my family are under that same sky, when they look up, they see the same sky as me, so its like we are all under one roof in a way. Do you talk to your children about the people at home? Ask them what they remember - or tell them about how it used to be when you were their age, about school and your friends and how you spent your holidays/christmas/etc. It helps to talk about it like that. I hope its just a phase and that you will feel better in the morning, when daylight comes. Thinking of you.

And just think everyone's turning rusty and cold in the UK, while you're getting a proper colour in the warmth
I use msn and the webcam to keep in touch with my grandchildren in the UK, I get shown school projects, new pets, and new haircuts from their webcam, and use voip free calls to chat for hours to my mum, daughter and friends, especially when I'm feeling a bit down. Have you got those facilities?
