Question Are there any other twitchers on the forum who can confirm we have owls in Tenerife?

My friends said they saw an owl in there back garden one night last week, are there any twitchers out there who can confirm that and are there any bird books relevant to the island for future ref?

Owls

We have seen an owl occasionally in Aguilas Del Teide. We also have a chaffinch which flies into the house quite often and just sits on the table before leaving. The bird population behind my house is very much like my old garden in England. Blackbirds, wrens, sparrows , bluetits and of course we get kestrals and the occasional eagle landing on the roof, much more tenerifian

I heard the sound of an Owl in Los Cristianos last week, and thought I was hearing things, but my mom head it too. Couldn't find it though. Odd.

Birds by Romany

Good Morning Diana.
We have a pair of owls at San Francisco, just outside of Puerto Santiago. The wingspan is approx three feet and they stand about 16 to 18 inches high. Don't know what sort they are but they are quite human friendly as they roost on the gate posts outside our apartment. Last night I guess they were courting as they made quite a lot of noise. We also had wrens nesting in a ficus tree in the garden this year.

owls

Yep there are owls here on the island - one flew straight into our car windscreen in the early hours going up the TF1 so there's one less now plus a rather alarmed passenger who saw it coming straight at them!

Yep. Can definately confirm the owl thing. We have a white owl, that regularly swoops past our window.
