For all you lucky people living in Tenerife, if you knew then, what you know now...
For all you lucky people out in Tenerife somewhere Already... Now you have the life, or not, that you were wishing for. If you knew then what you know now would you do it all again...

Where would you go? or would you not bother?
It was hard work getting out here, I would do a few things different before I left the UK but otherwise I wouldnt change a thing.
Love living here and so do my children

Absolutely, we moan about things but it only takes a trip back to 'yUK' to know when we have a better overall life here, have lived abroad before but was not as settled as living here
It took me 2 years to settle and now I'm as happy as a pie eater in a pie shop. My wife settled straight away and has since loved her "lady of leisure lets do lunch" lifestyle. Babytreb took about 1 month to settle in school but she loves it now.
The things I would change if I looked back in heindsight at my years on the island!!! Well.......................
I would have never lent so called friends money, I would have got "more" legal before I arrived, I would have learnt Spanish, I would not have mixed with the knob***s who are on their "bums" (you know the ones who cant find work so spend all day boozing and scrounging from others) so to speak and only surrounded myself with decent, respectable people as I do now and I would have chosen, in Las Galletas, a meet n tatee pie instead of a chicken and mushroom pie because it made me really ill.
It is not easy moving here, but when you settle you can enjoy a great life like my family and I do now.

'If I'd known then what I know now' I'd never have worried about the hot months or keeping in touch with my family

I think Mike in Chayofa posted once that he had quite a few people that had just come to him when they had got into problems because they had not searched out correct advice in the first place or cut corners. research, good advice & don't leave your brains on the plane. This forum is full of help so a good start to a new life, so hopefully pit falls can be avoided
i would have sorted the finance out to buy property while i still lived in the uk a few years prior to coming out here, even though we had some money as a deposit we found it very hard to get a mortgage as you have to have proof of earnings and contracts which is not so easy to do here. we still rent out here and have our own property rented out in the uk, so its just like swaping our place to live. but i would like to own my own property here but find it a minefield to get on the property ladder, to listen to some people they will tell you how easy it is but in reality its not so easy. so this is one thing i would have done somthing about before i came here 4 years ago

If I had known that I would come to live and work in Tenerife (and make lovely friends too) I would not have let bad things get to me so much in "my past life" in the UK
I am (for now anyway) living proof that things will get better, and no matter how bad situations may seem you can find a sunnier future ahead
Hmm, maybe I should also have learned to leave philosophy to the philosophers and not count your chickens...
