We met up with some friends from the UK for lunch today and got talking about smoking.
After discussing it with them we have both decided that we cannot afford to stop. The brand we smoke costs us about 70p per pack. They are around £5 in the UK. So every pack we smoke we are saving £4.30. If we stopped we would have to fork out on patches, chewing gum, mints etc which would decrease what we are currently saving.
With all this anti smoking sentiment going around I just thought I would share with you why I am not stopping smoking - for now anyway
Well I gave up smoking before I moved over and someone pointed out that if I was still smoking I would save around 4.70 UKP per packet so I took it back up and at the current rate I reckon in five years I will have saved enough to retire

My Mood:
Well... I stopped a month ago (and only just feel now that I have actually succeeded enough to tell anyone)... and have not used ANY patches or gum... as a 30 a day gal (Viceroys, L&M's or Fortunas) I reckon I'm saving 2€ a day... over 30 days = 60€.
Not too bad... plus I'm saving my health and my kids' health too... which was the actual point of it, as I LOVE smoking...
It's not easy folks...

I shudder to think what tailor mades would be costing me if I still smoked and hadn't switched to baccy years ago..... 40 to 50 a day I was on. Wasn't smoking that many, let some of them burn away in the ashtray
Kirsty, keep it up ,mate, and don't be tempted to 'just try one'. The worse is over .... don't be tempted.
I stopped on New Years eve after over 40 years of being well and truly hooked ....... and I don't even think of them now.

i quit three years ago, and it's only recently i've been having a puff on other peoples fag
Don't know why now, after all this time of being nicotine free, but they taste so good. Afterwards though i feel guilty and feel like i'm letting myself down. After all the hard work i put into packing them in, I'm worried i might start again.
