I thought that I would give this idea a go. I come across documentaries on the internet on many different topics, and sometimes I want put them on disc to show to all my friends.
If anyone has one that they think is worth looking at,maybe they might post a link to it here or just name it and whoever wants to go and look for it can link to it.
I found one today that really made my blood boil.About the injustice that was done to the people of the tiny island of Deigo Garcia in the Indian ocean by the American and British goverments, because they wanted to build an air base there. The biggest American base outside America. Its called "Stealing a nation" by John Pilger.See it here

.....wow....I thought the British Government were duplicitous through many other things, but nothing as bad as this. What a moving , shocking documentary!

Ca 2500 years ago, Plato wrote the Republic, a philosophical paradigm for a society governed by Guardians protected by a military and served by guilds to fulfil material needs. This is the work in which he said that the Guardians should be those who least want power (but that's another thread!).
These guardians would be educated, and know that there was no heavenly reward for good behaviour, nor punishment for bad. To create and keep order, however, and inculcate good behaviour in the population, the majority of people would be told that there was a clear system in the afterlife of rewards and punishments. Plato called this the Great Lie.
This was roughly 500 years Before Christ . Plato has always been considered the most respectable of the pre-Christian pagan philosophers ... and the only one deserving of quasi-Christian status. Wonder why? !

Fantastic documentary and very well done. I have come across a lot of this before... but I think it's important for everyone to see this sort of stuff because it makes them think.

Did anyone see the documentary last night showing the co-joined Iranian twins.
I'm sure it would have had you ladies reaching for the tissues and a few of the blokes to.
If ever a story deserved a happy ending........

Of course, lest we forget; Plato and his contemporaries were willing end enthusiastic users of slaves
