I used 4 different salons for the infills, & every salon, including one in Tenerife, assured me my own nails would not be damaged underneathnot true at all.

If my nails ever recover I have been told that having just tips, instead of full nails is fine, as the cuticle is not covered by the acrylic so nails can breathe.

Anyone considering full acrylic nails, think again. I know they look lovely, but the damage they do maybe irrepairable.

Sorry to all you nail technicians out there, but my nails are proof of the damage done. I have a friend who has had the same problem.

use 1 (not 4!!!!!) nail salon as they use different products and brands which may not be compatable. my sister has had nails on for the lAST 4 YEARS WITH NO PROBS AT ALL. ah well your comments should see a few more people out of work and a few more salons shut. are you opening a stick on nail salon by any chance? nails are made from the same material as your hair (i learnt that at school when i was 11) it grows back. do some research before you start scare mongerin for god´s sake! Avoid acrylic nails they ruin your natural ones ... what a load of b#ll#cks jaypeepypoos!

Thanks for explaining the difference, Atlantico. It appears that none of these nails are any good really. It is such a shame as they look so good!

I am still going to go for the tips only, eventually. But that is a long way off as my nails are even worse now...........

Thanks Suzy but I had them removed as they were beginning to feel uncomfortable. I didn't think it was wise to keep them on for more than 6 mths without giving your own nails a rest.

I miss them as they looked so good & my nails have always been dreadful.

I cannot see why a male should have any interest in the problems we women are having with acrylic nails. If it is a load of b......s to quote you, why are so many other women agreeing with me, as they have had problems too

I suggest you keep your comments for more masculine things as I do not know of any men who have acrylic nails, so how would you know the problems we are suffering?

The reason I used 4 salons not 1 is because I was travelling at the time!!!!!!!!

If businesses are going to close on the strength of a thread on a fourm, then god help us as there are lots of subjects on here that could have the same effect if that is all it takes!

sorry for having an opinion on "womens" problems, or rather someone making a sweeping statements on things they know little about. "They will ruin your natural ones", in every case? I´m sure some women (maybe even some men) have had a bad perm in their time which has wrecked their hair for a bit, should we warn them of the dangers too?

Please Pm me, I am a nail tech with over 12 years experience. Only yesterday I treated one of my clients to an infill, she is my very first nail client in my salon and has been coming to me every 3 - 4 weeks ever since 1996! Much of the advice that you've been given is misleading, I will be more than happy to give you some good, honest, safe advice
