acrylic is a mixture of a liquid and powder, which when mixed eventually hardens. it can be removed by soaking in acetone. Gel is more like a glue, which has to be filed off. Acrylic is best and most popular. Filing gel off could damage the nail. , , , , so my Fiance tells me

I have been offered a trial of gel nails by a newly trained technician who wants models. Not too sure I like the sound of them now.

Is your fiancee ( 2 e's for female fiancee & 1 e for male fiance) a nail technician? If so I live in Silencio & am looking for someone to infill my acrylics?

The newer gels are really nice and more natural looking. There's one by Creative that is hypoallergenic too.

There are pros and cons to both. One is not better than the other they are just different.

I have been having Bio Gel nails for over 2 years.

They are sugar based, believe it or not. They are a natural product and do not damage the natural nail underneath.

My nails always look fantastic, and I am complimented on them wherever I go. They do not wear or chip, and allow the natural nail to grow without breaking.

I therefore have beautifully long nails, which are my own, and they never looked chipped or worn.

I have them done every 2/3 weeks. They do not have to be "filed off". They are simply thinned down from the last coat with a soft file, and then a new top coat applied. Sometimes, if water gets underneath one, the whole coating comes off in one, leaving my natural nail underneath, and they are always perfectly healthy and normal underneath.

I would not hesitate to recommend them - they are fabulous.
