Are family pets (my dog) classed as property in a divorce settlement? We have/had 2 dogs so would it be reasonable to expect us to be awarded one each? She can have the dosey Lab but I want my shepherd!!! | | | 23rd September 2008, 10:44 | #2 (permalink) | | Moderator Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Tenerife Gender: Posts: 3,338 My Mood: | Quote: Originally Posted by Licinius Are family pets (my dog) classed as property in a divorce settlement? I don't think you'd get one each either, through your divorce settlement. | | | 23rd September 2008, 10:44 | #3 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Llano del Camello Gender: Posts: 1,276 My Mood: | __________________ Success comes at a price how much did it cost you ? | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to blue marlin For This Useful Post: | | 23rd September 2008, 10:54 | #4 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Los Cristianos.Via Burnley beat Fulham,Chelsea,Arsenal in Lancashire Gender: Posts: 2,656 My Mood: | Quote: Originally Posted by tenerife_smurf I think it would be a bit unfair on the dogs to separate them both mate, they would be used to each others company by now. Its unfair on everybody apart from the bloke who is expected to be upset himself, make all the sacrifices & accomodate everybody else! Well she's MY dog & if that upsets the ex or anyone else then its tuff titty. Lets put this into perspective here, the ex has got absolutely EVERYTHING. All I want is my dog which until now she complained was a pain in the arse for making too much mess, demanding too much exercise & barking too much. | | | 23rd September 2008, 11:03 | #6 (permalink) | | Moderator Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Tenerife Gender: Posts: 3,338 My Mood: | Quote: Originally Posted by Licinius Just like its a bit unfair to remove the child from their friends, or expect your ex wife to support herself................ ******! In this case the dog would choose me everytime which is a major gripe of the wife because as soon as I walked out of the door my dog sat by it awaiting for my return and when I did return from work, she was like a siamese twin to me. You've just reinforced dede why she should be with me. | | | 23rd September 2008, 11:16 | #10 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: El Medano Gender: Posts: 2,152 My Mood: | Well take it up with your solicitor then if you want him that much, i have heard of cases that went to court for custody of a pet, and i know if i split up i would defo fight for my little fella. __________________ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
