Ok, call me strange - I've been called worse, so I don't mind - but yesterday I got some news, which resulted in Geoff and I getting totally trashed, due to our rather over exuberant celebrations...
Having had a tricky 3-4 years on the health front, and having had every test under the sun, yesterday it was confirmed what the problem was, I'm going through the menopause...
So, why the celebrations? Simple, for one, it explains a HUGE amount and two, it would appear I'm almost at the end of it and by this time next year, it will a dim & distant bad memory. I also remember my mother weeping over finding she had started, I believe it's just the beginning of a new phase in life, and should be embraced
As it is official and I'm now an 'old' lady, I expect men/children to give up their seats for me, I have a licence to be completely loopy (and blame it on senility - especially as it runs in the family!) and I can enter glamourous granny competitions, legitimately...
So, who wants to have a party in honour of this new stage in my life.... I plan to grow older totally disgracefully, so only hard fast party animals need apply !

I have changed the thread title to 'Third Age' as the Spanish call it the 'Tecera Edad' (third age) which sounds quite nice IMO

Q: How many women with MENOPAUSE does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One! ONLY ONE! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID LIGHT BULBS CAME IN! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS DAMNED HOUSE!
